Mission: Why FounderToo exists
FounderToo started during a real job search (mine, the founder's) after spending hours on applications that went nowhere, adjusting resumes with ChatGPT and tracking status for everything using Google Sheets. I initially built it for me, but I quickly realized other people could benefit from it too. The goal was simple: reduce wasted effort, improve visibility into fit, and help people focus on opportunities that deserved their time.
Job searching has changed
A single role often attracts hundreds, sometimes thousands of applicants. Automated filtering decides who gets a first look long before a person does. Requirements are vague, transferable skills are weighted less than they used to be, and tailoring every application, every cover letter and every DM by hand has become exhausting. Then, if your profile fits, you need to prep for a never-ending sequence of interview rounds, case studies and CCAT tests that drain even more energy.
The result is that more effort does not reliably translate into better outcomes. And the problem is, most candidates spend the bulk of their time on roles they were unlikely to land in the first place.
Our principles
- More applications do not necessarily improve outcomes. The right applications do.
- People should understand why a recommendation was made.
- Job seekers should maintain control.
- Better information should reduce wasted effort.
- Core tools should remain free where possible.
Early impact
“I really like the website. It’s very user-friendly, and the ‘Why this score?’ section makes it clear why a role might not be a fit, which is incredibly helpful. The company snapshot is a great feature, and the strategy section stands out. Simple, clear, and easy to follow. I can definitely see myself subscribing and would happily recommend it to others.”
— Natalie Z.
“I sit through product demos regularly and it’s rare I see something work this well. It’s fast, simple, and actually useful. I’d easily pay $10–15/month while job searching, even more with contact suggestions.”
— Jacob L.
A note from the founder
I built FounderToo during my own job search, after watching too many hours disappear into applications that never had a real chance. I wanted a tool that explained its reasoning instead of hiding behind a score, and that respected the time and judgment of the person using it. The product has been shaped, and continues to be shaped, by feedback from people running the same kind of search. If you have any feedback, feel free to send it to me.
Affordability matters
FounderToo aims to keep core functionality Free because job searching is expensive enough already. If it has helped you save time in your search and you'd like to support the project, you can buy me a coffee. Contributions are completely optional and help cover AI, hosting, and operating costs.
